The Jaisalmer Desert Festival takes place every year in the Hindu month of Magh (February), three days prior to the full moon. The celebrations of this festival amidst the golden sands of the Thar Desert in the Sam dunes (40 Kms. Away from Jaisalmer)  make the desert come alive for three days with color, enthusiasm and extravaganza of the delights of the desert. Itinerary

Day 1- Arrival at Delhi

Upon arrival at Delhi Airport, you will be greeted and picked up by our representative and get an assisted transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2- Delhi-Jodhpur by air and Jodhpur-Jaisalmer by road (Disatnce-287 Kms.)

In the morning you will be escorted to the Delhi Airport to board a flight to Jodhpur. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Jaisalmer by car and experience the real beauty of Rajasthan by passing through  the sand fields and different villages along the roadside. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3- Jaisalmer Sightseeing and Desert Festival

Wake up early in the morning to attend the Mangal aarti (prayers sung in praise of God) at the Gadsisar Lake followed by a visit to Vyas Chhatri. Return to the hotel for breakfast after which you will visit the magnificent Jaisalmer fort locally known as Sonar Quila (Golden Fort), is one of the largest forts in the world and a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan. You will be then dropped at the venue of the Desert festival.  Spend the rest of the day in enjoying and participating in the various programs of the day such as the Turban Tying Competition between Indians and foreigners, contests for the Longest Moustaches, Mr. and Miss. Desert. The ethnicity of the traditional Kalbelia dance, folk songs and folk music performances can be witnessed throughout this cultural extravaganza of fun, frolic and laughter. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4- Jaisalmer Sightseeing and Desert Festival

After breakfast, visit  few heritage havelis (Mansions of rich merchants)  which  feature Rajputana  and Islamic style of architecture -Patwon ki Haveli, Nathmal  ki Haveli and Salim Singh ki Haveli. Later,  you will be dropped at the venue of the Desert festival. Participate in a Tug-of-War game (both men and women) between Indians and Foreigners to test the strength of your team. Women can test their balancing skills by participating in the Matka (earthen pitcher ) race competition. Have fun playing some games like Camel Decoration, Camel Polo etc. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5- Jaisalmer Sightseeing and Desert Festival

Start the day by embarking on the remaining  tourist attractions of Jaisalmer which include maginificent Jain Temples, Bada Bagh which is a beautiful garden built by Maharaja Lunakaran located in the outskirts of Jaisalmer and War Museum, the historical place of Indian Army exhibiting Indian tank, fighter plane and war equipments . Then drive to Sam Sand dunes, the venue for the grand finale of the Desert Festival. Experience a ride on the camel over the golden sand dunes. Enjoy the grand cultural program by Rajasthani folk artists in a perfect milieu,  the Surya Kiran Show (acrobatic performance) by the Indian Air Force and a cricket match. The day is concluded with a splendid display of fireworks in the late evening.

Day 6- Jaisalmer-Jodhpur by road and Jodhpur-Delhi by air

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Jodhpur Airport via road to board a flight to Delhi for your onward journey.
