According to the folklore the villagers were forced to pay the taxes that were imposed on them by the minister Salim Singh. During the Salim’s Singh visit to Kuldhara he fell in love with the beautiful daughter of the chief. He announced that of the villagers refused to give him the girl he would levy exaggerated taxes on them. But the chief refused and migrated from that place with all the villagers in one night and still remains a mystery that where the villagers went in a single day with being in knowledge on any one.
